Fun With Proofs With the Rowan Math Team

On April 16, the Rowan Math Team hosted its semesterly Proofs on Pavement event.

Various members of the Rowan Math Team gathered together at the Robinson Circle to bring their favorite mathematical proofs to life in color and glitter with the chalk donated by their advisor, Dr. Rade Musulin. Many of our Mathematics faculty and students joined in on the fun, showing off their own artistic talents as well as admiring those of the students who participated.

“It’s always fun to see which proofs the students pick to draw,” Dr. Musulin said. “My personal favorites are analysis proofs and algebra proofs.”

“It’s really interesting to see what proofs my friends like and to watch them explain the proofs,” Math Team Treasurer, Martin Tuohy, shared.

A big thanks goes out to Dr. Musulin, for organizing this event. We also thank the Math Team for leading this event, our faculty for spreading the word, and our students for attending.

Rowan Students Get Career Advice from Math Alums

The Mathematics Department hosted its annual Alumni Career Panel last Tuesday, April 7.

Mathematics alums visited Rowan to talk about post-graduate life with our current Mathematics and Data Science undergraduates. Each panelist shared their current roles in their careers and preparation they felt Rowan gave them. Students were then invited to ask the panelists about the hiring process, industry competitiveness, ways of standing out, and the panelists provided tips on how to navigate such topics.

We thank all of our panelists for taking the time to travel to campus and sharing their insights with our students. Also want to thank all of the students who attended this event. We look forward to everyone’s future accomplishments!

Rowan Students Learn About Actuarial Science

The Actuary Club of Rowan University’s Mathematics Department had an insightful guest speaker event on Wednesday, April 1.

Guest speaker Ryan Grusemeyer, an Actuary and Manager at Independence Blue Cross, spoke to a crowd of Mathematics, Data Science, and Economics majors about his experience as an Actuary as well as how to prepare for the field. After delivering his presentation, he invited students to ask questions and receive tips/tricks on navigating the industry.

We thank Ryan for taking the time to visit campus and sharing his invaluable insights with our students. We also thank our students for their participation in this event as well as their dedication to furthering the growth of our Actuary Club.
