Think you have the most creative pumpkin on campus? Join us for our Carved Pumpkin Contest on October 27th! Judging will be from 2:00-4:00p.m. outside between Robinson & Science Halls.

👻 Open to students, faculty, staff, and departments
🎨 Carve or decorate your pumpkin ahead of time
🎃 Bring your completed pumpkin for display
🗳️ Vote for your favorite creation
🏆 Compete for the coveted Gourd of Glory Trophy

Yesterday, Rowan University hosted its STEM Career Fair, bringing students and employers together to explore internships, career opportunities, and professional connections.

It was a great opportunity for our students to network, explore career paths, and take the next steps toward their futures!

How are advances in optical communications shaping the future of our increasingly connected world?

The Rowan University College of Science & Mathematics welcomes Theodore (Tod) Sizer, Ph.D., Head of Optical Systems and Device Research at Nokia Bell Labs, for a presentation titled:

“Research Frontiers in Optical Communications: Scaling Capacity and Expanding the Role of Fiber Networks”

Dr. Sizer will explore the growing demands on communication networks driven by emerging technologies, including AI, and highlight innovative research at Nokia Bell Labs aimed at increasing network capacity, improving efficiency, and advancing optical technologies.

Scientific ocean drilling is entering a new era of data analysis, and Rowan’s Beth Christensen, Ph.D., is helping shape that conversation.

Christensen, chair and professor in the Department of Environmental Science, recently served on the international scientific committee for the first International Electronic Ocean Drilling Workshop in Shanghai.

Researchers gathered to explore the use of AI and large-dataset analysis in future ocean drilling research, and Christensen also moderated sessions on Days 1 and 3.

And one conference perk she especially appreciated: a tea cup that never stayed empty. 🍵

How do social insects manage disease within densely populated colonies? 🐝🐜

Join us for the next Science Hall Seminar featuring Svjetlana Vojvodic Kruse, Ph.D., associate professor of Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Rowan University.

Her talk, “From Microbes to Behavior: How Social Insects Manage Disease,” will explore how honey bees and ants respond to pathogens, from beneficial microbes in the gut to behavioral responses to infection and possible self-medication.
