The GCC Guitar Program includes courses in Class Guitar, Guitar Ensemble, Studio Class, Fretboard Harmony, and Private Instruction. am del Monte, John Jorgenson, Gonzalo Bergara, Michael Chapdelaine, Joe Lopiccolo, Vahagn Turgutyan, Daniel Ward, Chris Burton Jacome, Michael Nigro, Chanson du Soir, Bekkers-Ku Duo, David Burgess, Martha Masters and Risa Carslon, Finn Svit and Jochen Brusch, Mesut Ozgen, Michael Partington, Randall Avers, Dale Kavanagh, Marcelo Coronel, Maximo Diego Pujol, Irina Kulikova, Cem Duroz, Craig Yarbrough, Quaternasglia, San Francisco Guitar Quartet, Santa Fe Guitar Quartet, Brazil Guitar Quartet, and David Leisner, as well as the three Arizona university professors: Frank Koonce (ASU), Tom Patterson (UofA) and Tom Sheely (NAU). The GCC Guitar Ensemble has premiered works written for the group including Rex Willis' "All In A Days Work" (2012), Mark Houghton's "Twangology" (2011), and Phil Moloso's "Kindertoten II" (2010). Guest conductors have included Mark M Davis from the providence Mandolin Orchestra and Rex Willis from State College of Florida. Music written for the ensemble is published on both Les Productions D'Oz (Twangology) and Clear Note Publications (All In A Day's Work). GCC Guitar students have consistently taken top honors in the Maricopa Community Colleges Music Competitions for both solo guitar and chamber music since 2000, participated in masterclasses and workshops with the Grand Canyon Guitar Society, and have been accepted to the nation's top universities and conservatories including Peabody Conservatory, University of Texas Austin, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, University of New Mexico, Eastman School of Music, and Berkley College of Music. In 2012, GCC will host guitarists David Russell, Scott Tenant, Andrew York, and Celso Machado in clinics and masterclasses.
