On August 29, the newest graduates of RCC’s Patient Care Technician program gathered with family and friends at the Glenns Campus to celebrate all they’ve accomplished.

Thanks to Adjunct Faculty Suzanne Nester and Program Head Dr. Carrie Lewis, the cohort was able to mark this important moment with a special pinning and graduation celebration.

The graduates confirmed their commitment to the field by reading the Patient Care Technician pledge. One by one, each student was pinned by their instructor—a symbolic moment recognizing their hard work, dedication, and readiness to begin the next chapter of their healthcare careers.

Then it was time to celebrate! Graduates, family and friends enjoyed cake, refreshments and, most importantly, the opportunity to celebrate together.
Congratulations to our newest Patient Care Technicians! We’re proud of you and can’t wait to see the difference you make in the lives of your patients.

Representatives from the Town of Warsaw, Richmond County, and Rappahannock Community College came together today to celebrate the refurbishment of the basketball courts on the RCC campus. RCC President Dr. Shannon Kennedy had the honor of cutting the ribbon. “We appreciate the relationship the Town and County have with RCC, and the ability to share our amenities like the tennis courts and now basketball,” Kennedy said.

Several years ago, Warsaw Town Council member Jonathan English had an idea he presented to the Warsaw Town Council, “Can we create more recreational opportunities specifically for local youth? A place they could enjoy, a place that would bring them together, and a place that could become part of growing up in their hometown.” That idea began a conversation—and eventually, a partnership between the Town of Warsaw, Richmond County, and Rappahannock Community College.

Richmond County Board of Supervisors Chair Lee Sanders expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between the organizations. “It's a great example of what can happen when our community comes together. Rappahannock Community College, Richmond County, and the Town of Warsaw, each recognized the value of investing in this place where our young people, families, neighbors can gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors,” said Sanders. “On behalf of Richmond County Board of Supervisors, I'm proud to be part of this celebration. I hope these courts will be filled with plenty of basketball for many years to come, thank everyone who helped make this happen, and congratulations to the entire community.”

Jonathan English shared his thoughts of appreciation, “The hope is that these courts are not just the finish line, but just the beginning.” Recently, he and his wife walked over with their children and saw teenagers laughing, playing basketball and simply enjoying themselves. Kids are walking to the courts, spending time together, and becoming part of the community around them." Jonathan had the honor of showing off his impressive basketball skills with the ceremonial first shot.
