Mrs. Bolin and four of our LC Dental Hygiene students recently joined Dr. Eilerman & Dr. Moore with SIU School of Dental Medicine for a visit to the Alton Boys & Girls Club. 🚸

Through interactive, hands-on activities, the club members became "Plaque Detectives," learning how dental hygienists identify and prevent plaque buildup and remove it. 🕵‍♀️🪥

They also explored dental radiographs (X-rays) and discovered how dental professionals use them to assess oral health. 🩻🦷

The experience provided a fun and engaging way for the students to learn about dental hygiene while inspiring healthy habits and an interest in oral healthcare! 😁

After three weeks of theory, our DH students successfully completed their 1st LA Lab, putting classroom knowledge into hands-on practice. From chicken to peers, they are developing skills such as propper technique and identifying anatomical landmarks on their peers for safe and effective injections.

Stay tuned for LA labs Week 2 & 3 as we work through Maxillary and Mandibular injections 💉
