🏕️ What a way to wrap up Camp Bison!

The final day of our 2026 WCC Campus Fund Drive featured a Tent Decorating Contest, and our departments did NOT disappoint! From creative campsites to a zombie apocalypse, the tents were incredible!

With more than 2,050 votes cast, the results are in!

🥇 1st Place: a TIE between Student Services & Administration!

🥈 2nd Place: Academic Skills Center

🥉 3rd Place: Public Safety with their Zombie Apocalypse tent!

Congratulations to our winners!

A big THANK YOU to all the departments that participated and everyone who came out to see the tents and vote! It was a fun way to end a fantastic week of giving, campus spirit, and supporting our students.

🎉 Day 2 PTO Drawing Winner! 🎉

Congratulations to Derek Hunter, whose name was randomly drawn as our Day 2 PTO winner!

Derek plays a big role in bringing projects across WCC’s campus to life! From the initial design to the final build, he helps make Foundation-funded projects a reality.

We’re grateful for all he does for WCC and especially thankful for his support of the Foundation! 💙💛

⛺ There’s still time to get in on the fun! Tomorrow is the final day of our Campus Fund Drive! Everyone who donated today will be entered into tomorrow morning’s PTO drawing, and there’s still one more chance to win!

💙💛 Meet our 2026 Foundation Heroes!

As part of this week’s Campus Fund Drive, five secret Foundation Heroes were hiding in plain sight across campus. Now that they’ve all been found, we want to share a little about why they were chosen!

💙 Mr. Thomas is one of our newest multi-year donors, inspired by someone who once helped him: “Someone gave to me, and I vowed that when I got a job, I would give to someone else.” He also goes above and beyond to help the Foundation with community events like the George Whitfield Baseball Clinic. Fun fact: He’s also an incredibly talented musician!

💛 Katie Holloman has given to the Foundation for 15 consecutive years — and gives just as generously of her time. She coordinates more than 100 volunteers for our Scholarship Invitational each year and chairs the Foundation Mini-Grant Committee.

For Katie, giving is personal: “I’m a product of this community and institution. Donating to the Foundation is my way of giving back to the place that raised me, helping others achieve their dreams and, hopefully, one day give back to the generations that follow.”

Fun fact: Katie has been pulling chains at high school football games for more than 20 years — and she bakes sweets to relieve stress! 🤪

💙 Jonathan Seager is a multi-year donor, serves on our Foundation Advisory Committee and supports the Scholarship Invitational. He has even brought his students to perform at our auction dinner, sharing their talents with our supporters and making our event even more special.

💛 Captain Warren Baker has been giving for nearly 20 YEARS! He helps keep our campus safe, keeps us laughing and has quietly and consistently invested in WCC students for almost two decades.

💙 Renita D. Allen Dawson has given for 15 consecutive years and is a true friend of the Foundation. Her commitment to WCC and our students extends throughout her leadership, where she has helped foster a wonderful culture of generosity and support within Workforce Continuing Education & Community Engagement.

These five remind us that philanthropy isn’t just about giving money. It’s about giving your time, your talents, your leadership and your heart to something you believe in.

Thank you to our Foundation Heroes — and to ALL of our WCC employees who give, volunteer, advocate and show up for our students. You make a difference! 💙💛

Another fun part of Campus Fund Drive week — daily PTO drawings! 🎉

Each day this week, WCC employees who make a gift to the Foundation will be entered into a drawing for PTO. Just a little extra fun — and a little extra thank you — for supporting our students and the work of the WCC Foundation. 💙💛

Congratulations to today’s winner, Elizabeth King! 🎉 Thank you, Elizabeth, for your donation and for supporting the Foundation!

We’ll draw another winner tomorrow, so there’s still time to give! 😊

🚨 HEAT SAFETY ALERT for Step Into 1776 🚨

With the hot summer temperatures today, we want everyone attending Step Into 1776 in downtown Goldsboro to plan ahead and stay safe in the heat.

The good news is that most of the event takes place indoors in air-conditioned spaces, including the Ladies’ Craft Fair, Battlefield Surgeon and Reverend exhibit, African-Americans and Native Americans in the Revolution exhibit, and Taste the Revolution.

We will also have water stations at each event location to help keep everyone hydrated as you move between stops.

If you plan to attend the Weapons Demonstration on Freedom Field, please plan accordingly. This portion is only about 15 minutes outdoors, and we will have both a misting fan and water station available there as well.

Please wear light clothing, drink plenty of water, and take breaks as needed. Your comfort and safety are important to us, and we can’t wait to see you for this unforgettable journey into 1776! 🇺🇸

Huge thanks to Downtown Goldsboro and B&g Grill for helping us promote Step Into 1776.

The British were confused. The Patriots were suspicious. And everyone had questions about… ice and plastic.

Turns out explaining modern conveniences to folks from 1776 is no easy task.

Join us July 3 in downtown Goldsboro for Step Into 1776: A Revolutionary Journey Through America's Founding Era — where history comes alive… and occasionally gets very confused by a cup of ice. 🇺🇸
