INTRODUCING:

NAME: Natasha (they/them pronouns)

YOUR ROLE IN SoSA: President

WHERE YOU LIVE: Woodford’s Corner, Portland, ME

ARTIST STATEMENT: My creative practice is multimedia and spans environmental, material and conceptual concerns. Through process oriented systems such as printmaking, sculpture, and sewing, I seek to make work that is grounded in lived and participatory experiences. I seekto push the line between fine art, craft, and everyday life.

WHERE ARE YOU NOW AS AN ARTIST: I’m in an incubation stage - I have ideas for works and projects but I’m allowing them to unfold slowly as we enter into the fall semester where I’m preparing for a year of student teaching in an environment that’s very up in the air due to COVID. Incubation stages are good times to reimagine your artistic practice and be gentle on yourself as you take time/space to slow down.

SOSA invites you to participate in our effort to bring some connectivity back to our art environment at USM by posting the art you’ve been making at home, or your at home work space using our hashtags and on Facebook and Instagram. Whether it’s your bed and sketchbook, a coffee table, or more, we want to see how you’re making-do creatively during this time that can feel so dividing. Don’t be shy, we want to see what creating at home is looking like for you right now! We look forward to seeing who shares and participates.
