Girls Take Over Welding
🗓️ Dates: 8/5-8/9 | 🕘 Time: 9am-12pm | 💸 Cost: $100
Empowerment meets engineering in our exclusive camp for high school-aged young ladies! Join us for non-stop creativity and skill-building. Learn to use a plasma torch, master MIG and TIG welding, and fabricate your own take-home project. It’s time to let your creativity flow in a supportive, judgment-free environment. Heat & Hammer Metals Camp

Step into the forge at our Heat & Hammer Metals Camp! Spend a week exploring the art of blacksmithing and basic welding, where you’ll design and complete a fabrication project from start to finish. We had an amazing time at the latest WiSDEM outing! The WisDEM ladies started out by eating delicious food from the Pig Pin by Fat Man and ended at The Painted Grape in Mebane. With happy tummies we painted adorable figurines and had an incredible time! Thank you to Samantha James for capturing these memories!

The ACC Stem Club took the time to join the SGA for a special Solar Eclipse Viewing Party! Adorned with glasses and smiles, they were able to witness the last total solar eclipse anticipated for the next 20 years in our area!

Last night was AMAZING! The WiSDEM ladies did a wonderful job assisting with this event. The rooms were full of laughter, positivity, inspirational mentors, and lots of neat things to see. We CANNOT thank Sandvik Coromant US enough, for hosting this event and for working so hard to make sure it was as successful as possible. Thank you to each of the attendees, ACC Faculty and Staff representatives, ACC Students, and ABSS CTE, and Industry Partners. Time to start planning for a bigger and better next year!

Monday is the BIG day! Join us as over 20 Alamance Community College Departments and Industry Partners come together to encourage young females to pursue fields in the Industrial Science, Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and trades fields. Attendees are sure to be inspired by our jam packed schedule of wonderful guest speakers and entertained with activities like potting your own plant, learning about animal care/visiting with their special small animal friend, complete a virtual welding demo, see 3D printing in action with CAD, and SO much more! Each attendee will walk away with a special tote bag full of swag including this years custom tshirt and pink safety goggles. Lillia has been such an inspiration and an incredibly hard worker during her time at ACC. The North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges names Lillia Kathryn Diez, recipient of the 2024 Dallas Herring Achievement Award, and Toby Neal, recipient of the 2024 Governor Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award.
