Howdy, Ags!

We had a great meeting Thursday night at Spring Creek BBQ in Granbury. Our guest speaker was Dr. Doug Simon, Dean of the College of Leadership and Military Studies and Commandant of Cadets at Tarleton State University, who spoke to us about Tarleton's Texan Corps of Cadets.

Dr. Simon has led the college and the Corps since July 2022. He brings 27 years in higher education and a long military career, from enlisting with a field artillery unit in 1989 to serving as an Army judge advocate, where he holds the rank of colonel.

Thank you, Dr. Simon, for spending your evening with us, and thank you to everyone who came out. Thanks also to Spring Creek BBQ for having us.

Our next meeting is Thursday, November 19, at 6 PM at Panchitos Restaurant, with free fajitas.

Please bring canned goods for our can drive!

Thanks & Gig 'Em!

Dr. Doug Simon, Dean and Commandant of Cadets at Tarleton State University, spoke at our October 15 meeting at Spring Creek BBQ. Our next meeting is November 19 at Panchitos.

Celebrating 150 Years of Texas A&M

Texas A&M University is celebrating 150 years. Since opening its doors in 1876 as the first public institution of higher education in Texas, A&M has grown into a worldwide family bound by one purpose: developing leaders of character dedicated to serving the greater good.

Six core values guide every Aggie:
- Excellence: do what we say we will do, then keep improving.
- Integrity: an Aggie does not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate those who do.
- Leadership: set the example and empower the people around you.
- Loyalty: stay dedicated to a purpose greater than ourselves.
- Respect: people matter, and we treat them that way.
- Selfless Service: help others without expecting recognition or reward.

Here in Hood and Somervell counties, those values are more than words. Each April our club gathers for Aggie Muster to call the roll for the Aggies we lost during the year and answer "Here" for classmates who cannot. The rest of the year we serve where we live: preparing meals at Foster's Home for Children, and raising scholarship money through the sporting clays shoot, crawfish boil, and domino nights so local students can become Aggies too.

Here's to 150 years of the Aggie Spirit, and to the next 150. Gig 'em!

As we voice a somber “here” in memory of those who passed away this year, HSC Aggies would like to thank Benjamin Knox of Benjamin Knox Gallery for being our guest speaker tonight and the hospitality of Celebration Hall in Granbury.

“Softly call the Muster, gently call the Roll.
Another year is passing, time will take her toll.
My family is remembered, as I’ll be remembered too.
Remember me my brethren; I am remembering you.” - Neal M. Dikeman, Class of '98
