GoBabyGo at CMU with FHW is a collaboration between Colorado Mesa University and Family Health West to give kids on the Western Slope the gift of mobility. The annual project is an extension of the national GoBabyGo program that started at the University of Delaware whos mission has focused on increasing mobility and quality of life solutions for children whose access to such may be limited during their early developmental years for a variety of reasons. Small electric cars are modified to promote independence, mobility, and sociability in local kids who are then able to learn and grow alongside their peers. CMU students work in multidisciplinary teams to wire the foot pedals to hand-accessed buttons and they customize each car with physical modifications to meet the specific needs of each child. After the modifications are done, the cars are donated to the families.
