WMU Cooley Law School Student’s Federalist Society-Grand Rapids Chapter The Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Federalist Society - Grand Rapids is a Constitutionally Originalist student scholarly organization.

The purpose of this society is to foster critical thought and debate about the application of constitutionally originalist principles to the law. This society embraces the principle that the state exists to preserve freedom and that the separation of governmental powers is central to the integrity of the republic of laws under the United States Constitution. This society endorses the idea that the

province and duty of the judiciary is to discern the law in the strictest textual and contextual meaning.
