Police Academy Cadets — Week 4 / Post #3!

Taser and Preliminary Breath Testing (PBT) rounded out the week 4 training objectives! More learning, more hands-on training, and another week of hard work in the books.

Our cadets continue to build their knowledge and skills while pushing themselves through each new challenge. We’re proud of the effort, determination, and commitment they continue to show!

Now, they have a long weekend to refresh, recharge, and get ready because next up are two weeks of fi****ms training!

Keep up the great work, cadets—you’re almost a quarter of the way there! You’ve got this!

Police Academy Cadets — Week 4 / Post #2!

The hands-on learning and training continued this week with defensive spray! And let us just say…hands down, this is the best academy to successfully complete defensive spray!

Cadets were put through an obstacle course with the expectation that they listen carefully to instructions, complete assigned tasks, and keep moving forward despite the challenge. Every single cadet battled through the discomfort, pushed past the challenge, and got the job done!

We couldn’t be prouder of this group and the determination they’ve shown from start to finish. They continue to push themselves, support one another, and prove that they’re ready to take on whatever comes their way.

Way to go, Cadets! Keep pushing—you’ve got this!

Stay tuned for Week 4 / Post #3!

Police Academy Cadets - Week 4/Post #1

It’s a happening week for our Police Academy cadets! This week is packed with hands-on learning and training for our cadets, and we’ll be sharing three posts highlighting some of what they’ve been up to.

We’re kicking things off with Standard Field Sobriety Testing (SFST). Cadets spent plenty of time practicing the tests hands-on and even got the opportunity to put on the infamous “drunk goggles” to experience and perform the tests while simulating impairment.

There was a lot of great learning happening… along with a few moments that had us wondering if the glasses were really to blame! Some of our cadets got a little crazy with them—or perhaps those goofy personalities are simply who they are!

Either way, they worked hard, learned a lot, and had some fun along the way. Great job, cadets!

Stay tuned for Posts #2 and 3!

The Hunt Was On! A few of our cadets were up bright and early this morning and went on a top-secret mission in search of the elusive Kirtland Firebirds during the campus scavenger hunt; because apparently, academy training doesn’t stop us from chasing mythical creatures!

The cadets were able to participant in several of the college’s Firebird welcome week events. A big THANK YOU to all the staff who worked so hard to make Welcome Week fun, welcoming, and just a little less stressful for everyone!

And to our cadets…great work on the mission. We’ll be expecting a full after-action report on the Firebird captures.

Mid-week of Week 3 at the Academy!

The first two weeks were a total content overload — LEGAL!

We’re happy to report that ALL of our cadets have passed their big legal test! A majority of the class even came in on their day off to study together as a group. That kind of dedication and teamwork deserves a huge shoutout! Great job, cadets!

A special thank you to our legal team for providing the instruction, guidance, and knowledge that helped prepare our cadets for this important milestone. We appreciate all the time and effort you put into setting them up for success!

We’re now mid-week into classroom fi****ms instruction. Due to social media restrictions, we’re limited on the photos we can share from that portion of training… so you’ll just have to take our word for it — they’re putting in the work!

Keep it up, cadets! Week 3 isn’t over yet!

Week two is off to a great start for our Kirtland Regional Police Academy cadets! 💪

We’re proud to report that every cadet successfully passed the MCOLES Physical Fitness Diagnostic Test, with several cadets posting some very impressive numbers. Great job, everyone!

The cadets’ focus for the remainder of this week will be legal instruction, where they’ll continue developing the knowledge and legal foundation necessary for a successful career in law enforcement.

Keep up the great work, cadets!

Yesterday marked the first day of the Kirtland Regional Police Academy — Class 63! 🚔💙 The cadets survived day one and a brutal physical fitness session, although I’m sure they are still questioning whether they ever actually found the right wall! 😂💪
Here’s to the beginning of a challenging but rewarding 17-week academy. The hard work has officially begun, and there’s a long road ahead. Best of luck to all the cadets — you’ve got this! 👮‍♂️👮‍♀️💙
