LCFT Higher Education members have requested members to support a piece of important legislation, House Bill 0375.

HB 0375 reads as follows, “at least 60 days before the start of a term, requires the governing board of a community college to notify an adjunct professor about whether a class he or she was hired to teach has been cancelled.” It would be greatly appreciated if you would contact your state representative and tell the office you want them to support HB 0375.

House Bill 375 was amended in the House and is now in the Senate awaiting consideration. The amendment changed the number of days from a 60 day notice to two notices, one at 30 days and another at 14 days or two weeks before the beginning of the next term. There will be another amendment in the Senate but we do not anticipate those notices changing.

Covid-19 vaccines in Grayslake

The Patty Turner Center (375 Elm Street, Deerfield) will be serving as the South Lake County Regional Vaccination Center operated by the Doctors Test Centers. Only government employees will be able to sign up for a limited number of time slots on Tuesday 3/30, Wednesday 3/31 and Friday 4/2. *THIS INCLUDES HIGHER EDUCATION EMPLOYEES!

Higher education staff are eligible for Covid-19 vaccines beginning tomorrow in Illinois

Illinois on Friday expanded COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to several additional groups of essential workers, including higher education staff, government employees and religious leaders, ahead of the April 12 date when all Illinoisans 16 and older outside of Chicago will be able to get the vaccine.
