Welcome Weekend is here! Michener Library will be open today and tomorrow from 1 to 5 PM. Skinner Music Library will be closed all weekend. Our semester operating hours will begin on Monday.

The Libraries versus the bookstore...which one should you go to?

Go to the Libraries if you're looking to borrow items for free! You've already paid for access to the libraries in your tuition and fees, so use them! You can borrow books, get research help, and explore more than what's on the shelves.

Go to the bookstore if you need to purchase textbooks for your class, buy some supplies, or to purchase that hoodie you'll wear every day for the next four years. While you can rent some textbooks from the bookstore, they still cost money.

Please remember that the Libraries do not purchase all textbooks. Sometimes we can help you borrow those items from other libraries for free, but not always. If textbook costs are a concern to you, ask library staff or your instructor about Course Reserves, which is where instructors choose to place part or all of their class materials on reserve at the Libraries. Courses that use Open Educational Resources (OER) are another great way to save on textbook costs.

"The Dog Days of Summer," a collection of stories set in the summertime, will be on display in Michener Library during the Month of August. All materials will be available for checkout.

Did you know that the phrase "dog days of summer" is a reference to being able to see Sirius (part of Canis Major) in the sky in July and August. Ancient cultures are said to have believed that it's combined light and heat added to the sun's rays, causing the sweltering temperatures.

Having problems finding a specific movie on your favorite streaming service? Check out our DVD collection! We have over 10,000 DVDs spanning a wide range of genres, including hard-to-find titles like All That Jazz, Heavenly Creatures, Pink Flamingos, Legend (1985), and Wag the Dog.

No DVD player? We have you covered - we check those out, too!

Look up your favorite movie in our catalog (link in bio), then stop by Michener Library to check it out.
