Explore how Chicana/o communities organized for civil rights, educational equity, labor justice, political representation, land rights, and cultural pride. This course examines the leaders, organizations, ideas, and creative expressions that shaped the Chicano Movement of the 1960s and 1970s. Students will also consider how the movement’s struggles and achievements continue to influence social justice today.

Explore how Chicana/o writers use storytelling to examine identity, culture, family, migration, resistance, and belonging. MAS 110 introduces students to powerful literary voices and connects their work to the histories and experiences that have shaped Chicana/o communities. No prior experience is needed. MAS 110:Contemporary Chicanx Literature

This course dives into the powerful world of Chicana/o/x literature. Exploring fiction, memoir, poetry, teatro, and illustrated texts, you will learn about identity, migration, language, resistance, and community.
Why take this class?
