We are so excited to be working with such a great team that we wanted to share a little bit about the company with you. MEET THE COMPANY - Rebecca Stone Thornberry, Director
---
Rebecca Stone Thornberry is an Associate Professor of Theatre and Women and Gender Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Her teaching and research interests include 19th, 20th, and 21st century U.S. theatre, world theatre, acting, directing, voice for the stage, theatre history, and disability studies. From August 2011- May 2020, she was the Artistic Director of Theatre on the Bay at the UW-Green Bay, Marinette campus. She has directed productions such as The Diary of Anne Frank, Into the Woods, Fuddy Meers, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, An Inspector Calls, All in the Timing, Eurydice, and The Mousetrap. As an actor, favorite roles include "Pearl" in Phyllis Nagy’s The Scarlet Letter, "Olwen" in Dangerous Corner, "Claire" in Fuddy Meers, and "Rachel" in Reckless. Her film work includes the 2017 feature film Aquarians (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm7844338/). She has presented her research at the Mid-America Theatre and Association of Theatre in Higher Education conferences.

AND to do this while Chuck Rybak's play is happening across the street is a rare and wonderful opportunity to show a sampling of the wealth of creativity on our campus. THE FLYING CO**SE by Thomas Campbell is a dark comedy that sees the Cawdor family unite following the death of the family’s estranged patriarch. As they prepare for the funeral, their father’s outlandish burial demands instigate hilarious responses, ultimately forcing the family to examine their respective demons and to decide what kind of family they want to be moving forward. Directed by Dr. Rebecca Stone Thornberry (Assoc. Professor), the play will also feature the talents of Actors’ Equity Association member Alan Kopischke (Assoc. Professor).

CALLBACK LIST for THE FLYING CO**SE:
Thanks to everyone who auditioned for THE FLYING CO**SE. We were excited to see so many new and familiar faces in attendance this evening.

If your name appears on this list, please plan to attend callbacks on Friday, September 11th starting at 5pm in University Theatre. Callback materials will be available for pickup in Theatre Hall 171 beginning at 9am on Thursday, September 10th, and should be picked up prior to the start of callbacks if possible. If you are unable to pick up the materials in person, please let us know ASAP.

It is highly recommended that you read the script in advance of Friday's callback, so please visit Theatre Hall 331 to check out a copy of the script to peruse.

This new play will be our *third* production in the 2026 World Premiere Wisconsin year-long festival of new works. Auditions for our 2026-27 are open to ALL students at UW-Green Bay. We pride ourselves on being a program that embraces the University's open access mission. We hope to see you at auditions in September - more details will be shared in August.
