Alumni Feature Story Edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth 💙💛

Today, we're featuring Winston Griffin '21, whose Aggie story is a family legacy more than 90 years in the making. A Greensboro native, he grew up attending A&T football games with his pawpaw, Ernie Griffin '64, and his father, Adrian Griffin '82, following a path first walked by his great-grandfather, Lymus R. Griffin, who played football at A&T in the early 1930s. When it came time for college, Winston applied to A&T and nowhere else, earning his B.S. in supply chain management in 2021. Today, he is a material flow engineer at John Deere and the owner of Yadkin Millworks & Fabrication LLC. Four generations. One Aggie family. One enduring legacy.

Today, we're featuring Candance Goins ‘99 whose Aggie story is a love story that began freshman year, when a mutual friend introduced her to the man who would become her husband. That friendship grew into romance by junior year and, today, 25 years of marriage. Together, they raised two daughters who both chose A&T. Their oldest has earned two degrees, and their youngest is a junior executive student leader and Aggie Ambassador. For her, Homecoming is a family reunion, a chance to reconnect with lifelong friends and former professors and to experience Aggie Pride through her daughters' eyes.

Tonight was a proud and historic moment for North Carolina A&T State University!

The Greensboro City Council presented an official resolution recognizing the 100th edition of the “Greatest Homecoming on Earth” during its City Council meeting.

Chancellor James R. Martin II addressed the council, joined by university leaders, as the city honored a century of Aggie Pride, tradition and the enduring legacy of North Carolina A&T.

As we prepare to celebrate 100 years of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth, this recognition reflects the university’s longstanding relationship with the City of Greensboro and its lasting contributions to the community and beyond.

Thank you to the Greensboro City Council for honoring this historic milestone and celebrating a century of Aggie excellence!

Alumni Feature Story Edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth 💙💛

Today, we're featuring Jacqueline Pyatt '60, whose Aggie story began with the women who came before her: her aunts, Alice Bell Odom '44 and Barbara Bell Jones '47, and her sister, Margaret Bell Hawkins '57. After arriving in 1956, she was chosen by her classmates as Miss Freshman, joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and went on to be crowned Miss A&T. Homecoming 1959 stands out as a highlight of her reign, when she represented her family and her university in a gold suit made by A&T students. She graduated with the Class of 1960, and the tradition she started carrying forward continues in her family today.

Alumni Feature Story Edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth 💙💛

Today, we're featuring Brittney Dennis '11, '20, a second-generation Aggie whose story began long before she enrolled, with annual family trips to Greensboro for Homecoming. When she arrived as a freshman in 2007, she was already carrying forward a legacy that runs through her aunts, uncles, and cousins. During her time in Aggieland, she joined the Student North Carolina Association of Educators, witnessed history during President Obama's 2008 election, and met her husband, Newton Dennis, a fellow two-time Aggie and proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. She earned her B.A. in elementary education in 2011 and returned for her M.A. in school administration in 2020. Today, she is a senior manager in early literacy and is raising the next generation of Aggies. Once an Aggie, always an Aggie.

Alumni Feature Story Edition of the Greatest Homecoming on Earth 💙💛

Today, we're featuring Kimball Credle ‘85, whose Aggie story includes an unforgettable moment at the fall 1984 coronation in Corbett Sport Center. Just becoming aware of the significance of Black pride, they sat in the audience when an angelic voice began to sing "Black Butterfly." The singer was their dear friend and classmate Sybil Lynch, the newly crowned Miss A&T. That performance inspired them to succeed in every endeavor, and they remain forever grateful to A&T.
