“Everything that distinguishes Elon Law today traces back to Dean Emeritus Luke Bierman's vision and the decisions he made to reimagine legal education."

Elon Law's singular 2.5-year J.D. curriculum and Residency-in-Practice Program began with Bierman's vision for a new brand of legal education that is faster, more affordable and more tied to the legal profession than the traditional model.

This month, colleagues and university leaders gathered in the Elon Law library to honor that legacy with a portrait unveiling and reception.

Next week, Elon Law’s first-year students will deliver their first graded oral arguments in our Legal Method & Communication courses.

They’ve been practicing this week with Moot Court Board members and second-year teaching assistants who are helping them refine their advocacy skills and build confidence at the podium.

It takes courage to stand up and argue a case before classmates, professors and practicing lawyers. Wish our 1Ls the best as they prepare to make their case!

Uncovering how the U.S. Supreme Court operates requires clarity in purpose. Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor offered insights into the questions that guide her work to reveal "secrets that are in the public interest" in Elon Law's Joseph M. Bryan Distinguished Leadership Lecture.

“How much do the justices bargain with one another? What role do clerks play? What does it mean to hold power at that level for 20 or 30 years?”

Elon Law students don’t just study constitutional law. They learn from those who’ve shaped it.

A recent panel hosted by We the People - Elon Law's Constitutional Journal brought together former N.C. Chief Justice Cheri Beasley, Elon Law's Sandra Day O'Connor Professor; N.C. Supreme Court Justice Phil Berger Jr., an adjunct professor at Elon Law, and Professor of Law Enrique Armijo, a constitutional law scholar — for a thoughtful discussion of how judges interpret the Constitution and the pressures shaping modern courts. Professor David Levine, also a constitutional law scholar and the journal's adviser, moderated.

We’re proud to have such experienced jurists and scholars leading our students into practice.
