Hello friends,

An amnesty chapter in the Netherlands (Maastricht University Amnesty) is hosting a series on police violence in the US and whistleblowers. They're seeking speakers to skype and weigh in on the subject. Please PM for details if you know anyone or would like to speak or have information you'd like them to share to our European friends.

Love,

Everyone outraged by the global inaction towards Sudan have been highlighting the contrast between the international response to Notre Dame fire and the Sudanese massacres:
Notre dame fire
0 killed
3 injured
Global response :Intensive media coverage
Public grief
$1 Billion donated

Sudan massacres
500 killed
723 injured
650 arrested,
54 r***d
1000 missing,
118 dumped into river nile.
Global response : Nothing

Sudan is in the midst of a internet blackout which authorities use to control information flow. This was made worse by the attacks of protesters on June 3rd where 100 people were murdered by military forces. Although the Transitional Military Council took responsibility for the deaths they claimed it was a mistake. Its outrageous and unacceptable. Read more and take action:

Rapid Support Forces militia are attacking and killing peaceful protesters – take action and stop the military crackdown.

“Amnesty International has given Colin Kaepernick its top human rights award for his public opposition to racial injustice. The former San Franciso 49ers quarterback is Amnesty's 2018 Ambassador of Conscience”

Ex-NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick received Amnesty's top human rights award for his opposition to racial injustice. His "take a knee" campaign during the national anthem likely cost him his job.

LONG POST BUT IF UR INTERESTED IN MYANMAR STUFF KEEP READING

March 23rd, 2018, H.E. Mr. Htin Lynn - Permanent Representative of Myanmar - issued a statement in response to a draft UN resolution "Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar"

"diplomatic corps and UN agencies have already visited area and witnessed that most of the Muslim population and their villages remain intact and they are assuming daily livelihoods as before. If ethnic cleansing is happening, why many have chosen to continue to reside there?"

But the 2017 Amnesty Report, "Caged Without A Roof: Apartheid in Myanmar's Rhakine State" use satellite images showing deliberate, systemic burning of muslim neighborhoods in stark contrast to intact non-rohingya neighborhoods. Among other forms of evidence given restricted access/lack of independent investigation/
