The end of the academic year is a chance to highlight our faculty and their accomplishments. To coincide with Nurses Week, we're highlighting Dr. Lindsay Draper, '16 MSN/MBA, '19 DNP, a recent honoree of the Anna Maria Gove Alumni Teaching Excellence Award. Draper has taught courses from early undergraduate to doctoral levels, demonstrating excellence.

And, she is an innovator! She is leading the way in teaching students about the applications of artificial intelligence. She has created custom AI Tools for nursing students and contributed to the UNC System’s Foundations of AI course, leading development of its “AI in Health Sciences” module. In honor of National Nurses Week, we want to highlight our School of Nursing Distinguished Alumni Award Honoree, Deborah Grant, DNP. She serves as Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Ambulatory and Clinical Nursing Services for Cone Health. "My love of nursing is an integral part of how I am and why I was called to be a nurse," says Grant. Dr. Grant has been a leader in advancing nursing from the bedside to the community. Thank you for your service to the profession!

Commencement 2026: Some people spend years searching for their calling. Samantha Fynn found hers at just seven years old. “From a young age, I knew I was meant to take care of others,” she reflected. This spring, Fynn will graduate with a bachelor’s of science degree in nursing and turn her calling into a career of caring for others. She had help along the way, including as a Conway Scholar through the Bedford Falls Foundation and as a Minerva's Health Scholar. We congratulate all our GRADS! Good luck with exams! The School of Nursing hosted another 2nd Shift: Nursing Student Study Night with dedicated study spaces, faculty on hand to answer questions and plenty of food, snacks and a little bit of Odin, the therapy dog, to get everyone pumped for exams! Thank you to all who volunteered and partnered to make this a productive night for our students.
