Guilford College has launched three dynamic professional certificate programs through the Guilford Career Advancement Program (GCAP) — a new initiative designed to equip adult learners with practical, career-relevant skills grounded in ethical leadership, community engagement, and real-world application.

These 10-week programs are ideal for working professionals, career changers, and mission-driven leaders seeking to grow with purpose. Each certificate blends foundational and advanced content, flexible online delivery or online with the option of in-person attendance, and a stackable credential model that awards digital badges for each completed two-week module.

Day 2 of Guilford Dialogues 2024 continued to build momentum around our theme, "Building Strategies for Economic Inclusion." We began with a welcome and an impactful panel on generational wealth and poverty, introduced by Frank McCain, CEO of United Way of Greater Greensboro. Panelists delved into the complexities of wealth transfer and socioeconomic disparities, providing valuable insights into economic and social justice.

The discussion continued with a panel on the role of higher education in fostering economic inclusion, introduced by Mark Justad. Educators and community leaders examined how colleges and universities can support students from diverse backgrounds through scholarships, mentorships, and career development initiatives.

A highlight of the day was the featured speech by Kory Bailey, CEO of UpSurge Baltimore, during our lunch session.

The afternoon included a re-entry simulation and a panel on creating an inclusive economy for justice-impacted individuals. Panelists shared innovative approaches to breaking down systemic barriers and fostering economic stability for those affected by the criminal justice system.

Day 1 of Guilford Dialogues 2024 was a resounding success! We kicked off with a warm welcome from President Kyle Farmbry and explored the theme "Building Strategies for Economic Inclusion" through discussions on community leadership, workforce development, entrepreneurship, aging and economic inclusion, and sustainable housing. Highlights included a featured talk from Surya Kolluri, Head of TIAA Institute, and an inspiring evening keynote by Raj Chetty, William A. Ackman Professor of Economics at Harvard University.
