UNCG Department of Classical Studies AMSA (formerly The Department of Classical Studies & the UNCG Archaeology Program)is the largest undergrad Classics and first Archaeology majors in NC

UNCG's AMSA is a dynamic, interdisciplinary department of approximately 60 majors offering BA degrees in Classical Studies in four concentrations (Classical Archaeology, Classical Civilization, Classical Language and Literature, and online Ancient Mediterranean Studies) and in Archaeology. Our faculty are regularly nominated for--and receive--university and professional teaching awards, and we are proud to offer a variety of high-impact study abroad, field, and hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom.

Interested in joining an archaeological project in Greece this summer? Come to Dr. Harrington’s info session for her project at Lechaio, a harbor site near Corinth, where she’ll be bringing students this summer! Info session in Wed Oct 28 from 3-4pm in MHRA 1207. Earn 6 credits (!!) at the 400-level by joining this study abroad program, get hands-on experience with artifacts from 2500 years ago, and have fun while doing it!! Global Engagement Office

AMSA’s annual Classics Day is just around the corner! Hosted by UNCG Classical Society this is a morning of fun, activities, and games celebrating the ancient world! Please join AMSA and the AIA Greensboro Society in welcoming NCMA curator Dr. Caroline Rocheleau for a talk on the museum’s special exhibit on Nubia and Kush (opening next week!) and her own work on Nubia. Lecture will be in MHRA 1214 at 5pm; this particular lecture will be in-person online. Come learn more about ancient Nubia!
