We had a fabulous time and screened 34 kids (ages 3 to 15) on the Chariot, UNCG School of Nursing's mobile unit! Looking forward to more screening dates upcoming in September.

UNCG Speech and Hearing Center is excited to offer Live Out Loud, a Parkinson's communication group. Speech changes are common for people with Parkinson's Disease. Individual speech therapy is invaluable in equipping people with PD with skills to maintain their communication confidence, but at some point, therapy ends. Then what?

The Live Out Loud group provides a supportive space to:
🗣️ Practice evidence-based communication strategies
💬 Maintain and strengthen communication skills beyond traditional speech therapy
🤝 Connect with others who understand the Parkinson's journey
🌱 Build confidence for real-life conversations in a fun, interactive environment

Whether you're looking to maintain your communication skills, challenge yourself, or simply meet others in the Parkinson's community, we'd love to have you join us!

Sessions begin August 19th and will be held every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at the Evergreen Lifestyle Center (bottom floor).

In honor of National Speech-Language-Hearing Month, MEET THE UNCG PROVIDER:

Meet Kelly Harrington, a Speech-Language Pathologist at the UNCG Speech and Hearing Center who specializes in working with people who stutter. Kelly is a Board Certified Specialist in Stuttering, Cluttering, and Fluency Disorders, as well as the Greensboro Family Chapter Leader for the National Stuttering Association. She is passionate about integrating counseling into stuttering therapy, helping clients build confidence while strengthening their communication.

Meet Dr. Lisa Fox-Thomas, a clinical audiologist, researcher, and Assistant Clinical Director at the UNCG Speech and Hearing Center. Dr. Thomas specializes in the evaluation and management of tinnitus, sound sensitivity disorders, and auditory processing disorder (APD). She also directs the Center’s Listening Lab summer camp, helping children with APD build confidence and stronger listening skills through engaging, hands-on activities. 🎧✨
