Another great article about the Archaeology Field School at Old Salem with our very own Dr. Geoffrey Hughes.

UNCG partnered with Old Salem for an archaeology field school to give students hands-on experience collecting material culture from early Moravian settlements.

Anthropology was there for me when I struggled finding my place in the biology program. In addition to all of the academic knowledge I have gained from this discipline, the faculty and classes that I have taken during my time here taught me how to be a better person.

The faculty here have made me become even more passionate about anthropology; their kindness, openness, and love for their field have inspired me to pursue anthropology for a career and to continue learning as much as I can.

The anthropology department has helped shape me into the person I am today. I have had the privilege of getting to know such wonderful people, be a part of a field so beautiful and dedicated to people and take risks I never thought possible. I would not be half of the student, human, or anthropologist I am without the guidance of my professors, the support of my cohort, and the wonderful environment that everyone has created. To my professors, I promise to make you proud to have taught me. To my cohort, I promise to make you proud to have known me. And to UNCG, I promise to make you regret getting rid of my department.

Anthropology opened my eyes to the intricate tapestry of humanity. I discovered a wealth of knowledge about how humans work, from our shared behaviors to our rich cultural diversity. This knowledge has allowed me to better understand people around me as well as myself. My experience studying anthropology has been life-changing, broadening my outlook and strengthening my understanding of the complexity of the planet and its inhabitants
