Earlier this summer, the Rawk was relocated a very short distance from where it has been since 1987 in order to allow for landscaping work to take place as part of the Main Library's renovation. Crews moved the Rawk safely and securely to its new spot. The Rawk weighs 12.7 tons - that's almost 28,000 pounds! Dean Michael "Mike" Crumpton has officially retired from the UNCG University Libraries as of June 1. This picture of Mike and acclaimed author Percival Everett was taken at a Libraries event co-hosted by Greensboro Bound in May of 2025. Mike will be missed and we at the libraries are grateful for his dedicated service and leadership.
