Seton Hill Dance students had the incredible privilege of working and performing alongside Elijah Gibson and Social Movement Contemporary Dance Theater. This experience meant so much to us. There was such a strong sense of collaboration and inspiration throughout the entire process, and it was amazing to watch it all come together on stage.

We are so grateful to The Academy at Westmoreland Cultural Trust for bringing us all together and making this powerful artistic experience possible.

We are so grateful our dancers had the opportunity to take a masterclass from Elijah Alhadji Gibson—dance educator, choreographer, and activist, and founder of Social Movement Contemporary Dance Theater (SMCDT). A select number of our dancers are also so excited to be performing TOMORROW with Social Movement Contemporary Theater at Seton Hill!

Originally from San Diego, California, Elijah began dancing with the San Diego Civic Dance Association and attended the San Diego School for the Performing Arts. He earned his Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, focusing on dance history, somatic studies, and pedagogy, and had the privilege of working closely with the world-renowned Gus Giordano. His critically acclaimed work has been presented at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Center and Jacob’s Pillow, and he has held faculty positions and residencies at institutions such as Shenandoah Conservatory, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Houston. He currently serves as Associate Program Director of the Dance Science program at Texas A&M University.

MEET OUR AMAZING FACULTY!
Dancers 14+ will have the opportunity to train with Jess Wellington, J-SUN Noer, Chrisala Brown, and Joanna Abel as part of the High School Dance Exp. at Seton Hill University during the ACDA conference.

Participants will experience college-level dance classes and engage with nationally recognized artists in an immersive weekend designed for aspiring dancers.
