We had a wonderful time yesterday afternoon celebrating the Westmoreland-Fayette Workforce Investment Board’s 25th anniversary! We’re grateful for the opportunity to have been part of a day that truly highlighted the power of community and collaboration in advancing workforce development.

The many stakeholders in attendance was a testament to what can be achieved when individuals, organizations, and industries come together with a shared goal of strengthening the workforce and supporting the success of our counties and communities!

A bonus of the event was catching up with one of our recent alumni who had participated in the WIB’s Experience Works Plus! Program last summer. Tucker, who completed THREE internships during his time at Pitt-Greensburg will be stepping into a career with one of them in less than two weeks. 👏🏼👏🏼

A huge thank you to their Executive Director, Janet Ward, and her entire staff for their passion, dedication, and all they do each and every day! Congrats on 2️⃣5️⃣ years!! 🥂

Incoming Bobcats: Pitt-Greensburg has a special program called TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) designed to help students navigate their college journey through graduation.

TRIO SSS provides personalized, consistent support:

✅One-on-one meetings with dedicated staff who care about your progress
✅Time management strategies to find a healthy school-life balance.
✅Study skill building
✅Financial literacy - help with understanding your aid and managing your budget
✅Career & grad school prep

You may qualify if you meet at least one of the following criteria:

✅First-Generation college student
✅You meet federal low-income guidelines
✅You have a documented disability.

Last night’s Senior Send Off was one for the books! The joy, the laughter, the dancing, the celebration of an outstanding group of seniors—and the chocolate, of course! 🍫

Career Services welcomed some very special (and very curious!) future Pitt students to campus yesterday for the annual Take Your Child to Work Day—and they fully embraced the role of university staff…especially Internship Coordinator. 💙💛

From behind-the-scenes prep to on-the-ground experiences, they got a true taste of both staff life and student life (and yes…they turned a few heads along the way 👀—apparently college students don’t usually look that young!).

Here’s a glimpse into their day:
✨ Prepping for an upcoming event
✨ Sneaking in a few emails—and a spin (or five) in mom’s chair
✨ Sitting in on a Healthcare Management class to hear about a real internship experience
✨ Exploring the Career Closet and learning how to dress for success
✨ Helping set up and then observing an event to prepare some of our summer interns
✨ Pitching in on a commencement task
✨ Connecting with students gearing up for finals and summer plans
✨ Testing out some very important campus store games (Connect 4 & Jenga approved 👍)
✨ Sampling dining hall favorites
✨ Visiting Experience Points in downtown Greensburg to learn from a Psychology intern in action

A fun-filled day that offered a fresh perspective on the many ways our office supports students—and maybe sparked a few future career interests along the way 💼✨

Last week we had the opportunity to catch one of our Information Technology students in action at his internship. 💻

Jacob has been working with our campus IT team all semester and gaining a variety of pre-professional experience. He shared that observing many of the staff troubleshoot a variety of issues both hardware and software related has been one of his key take aways, along with having the chance to take apart a laptop to determine the issue. While he recognized the knowledge gained in coursework has been necessary, the skill set expanded upon through hands on experience will be instrumental in his next endeavor as he applies to both post-graduate internships and entry level positions in the field.
