Carson Fortune’s connection to ECU began long before he became a student. His parents met at ECU, and now he is continuing that family tradition alongside his brother, who is also a fellow Pirate pursuing a minor in business. Growing up with season tickets to football games, Carson was surrounded by ECU pride long before he ever stepped foot on campus as a student!
Now, the Pittsboro, NC native is building a story of his own. A junior Finance major concentrating in Risk Management & Insurance and pursuing a Professional Selling Certificate, Carson is putting the COB formula for success into action. He's taking what he learns in the classroom and putting it to work as VP for Recruiting for Gamma Iota Sigma, while gaining valuable experience through internships.
Last summer, Carson interned with CRC Group in Atlanta. That experience led to an invitation to return next summer, this time for an internship in Charlotte.
For Carson, the lesson is simple: get involved.
“Get involved. There is a student group for every single major in the COB. Go on as many trips as you can to network,” Carson said. “And don't forget about your professors, as they have industry connections and they want you to succeed by getting that internship or obtaining a full-time offer before you graduate.”
Carson’s story is a reminder that sometimes showing up, getting involved, and saying yes to opportunities can take you further than you ever expected. ☠️🌇🛫
