🏎️🏎️🏎️ THAT’S A WRAP ON ECU’S FIRST-EVER MOTOR WEEK!

Pirates got an inside look at the fast-paced world of motorsports, exploring everything from finance and marketing to sponsorships and partnerships. Hearing directly from industry professionals and making valuable connections, Motor Week brought the business behind the sport to life!

A huge thank-you to Frank Kelleher, Bill Catania, Kerri Berryman, Morgan Kane, and Joseph Sciamarelli for sharing their expertise and helping make this inaugural event one to remember!

This week, we’re highlighting Rhonny King Jr., who is currently interning with The Team in New York City! The Team is giving Rhonny the opportunity to gain experience in the professional world while working on an account with American Express.

During our recent trip to NYC, we had the chance to visit The Team and see where some of our Pirates are making their mark!

Intern of the Week: Aidan Boll 🌟

This week, we’re highlighting Aidan and his internship with Inmar Intelligence, where he gained real-world experience in corporate finance while working directly with the Corporate FP&A team.

Beyond strengthening his technical skills, Aidan’s experience challenged him to communicate more effectively, adapt to change, and embrace the idea that progress is more important than perfection. Working alongside experienced professionals and senior leadership gave him perspectives and lessons that he’ll carry with him throughout his career.

Most importantly, this internship pushed Aidan to become more adaptable, intentional, and confident in the way he approaches problems. This is growth that will continue to serve him long after his internship comes to an end.

We’re proud to see our Pirates making the most of these opportunities and growing into the professionals they’re becoming. Keep it up, Aidan! 🏴‍☠️

🏙️🏢 ECU RMI Pirates are taking their careers beyond the classroom!

The ECU Gamma Iota Sigma chapter traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the annual Gamma Iota Sigma Conference, a two-day event bringing students and insurance industry professionals together for learning, networking, and career opportunities.

With a career fair featuring 50+ companies, students had the opportunity to connect directly with employers across the insurance industry. And for many Pirates, those conversations turned into something more.

Students submitted their resumes ahead of the conference, and some were contacted by employers before even arriving in Charlotte for interviews for internships and full-time positions. Others landed drop-in interviews after making a strong connection at an employer’s booth.

Beyond the career fair, students could choose from breakout sessions throughout the day, learning about different areas of the insurance industry directly from professionals working in the field.

The conference also featured a keynote from Seth Denson of Wholesure, giving students another opportunity to hear insights from an industry leader.

And we’ve seen firsthand where a conversation at GIS can lead. Last year, Carson Fortune connected with CRC Group at the conference, and that conversation ultimately led to his internship.

That’s the power of showing up, starting conversations and putting yourself in the room. We’re proud to see our Gamma Iota Sigma Pirates building connections, exploring opportunities and making their mark in the insurance industry. 🏴‍☠️

🏁🏴‍☠️ ECU IS MAKING ITS MARK IN MOTORSPORTS.

On October 14th & 15th, ECU students will have an incredible opportunity to connect with some of the biggest names in motorsports through Motor Week. 🏎️🏎️🏎️

Joining the conversation will be leaders from Daytona International Speedway, 23XI Racing, Team Penske, Trackhouse Entertainment Group, and WFLA Sports — including four ECU alumni who are making their mark across the industry.

One of those Pirates is Morgan Kane, Senior Partnerships Manager at Team Penske, who was once a Grave Digger driver while completing his degree online at ECU.

From NASCAR and sponsorships to sports media and motorsports management, ECU’s connections reach across the industry, and Motor Week gives students the chance to learn from the people who are living it.

And apparently, the Motor Week message is already making its way to the racetrack. 🏁🤝🏎️🏎️

Chris Catania recently competed in the Busti Auto 200, a 200-lap Enduro at Stateline Speedway in Jamestown, New York, alongside a field of 76 competitors. His car came with a little extra Pirate spirit spray-painted with “COME TO MOTOR WEEK” across the back and “GO PIRATES” down the side.

He may have only made it 20 laps before getting rear-ended… but at least the car was getting the word out. 🤣

Intern of the Week: Nathan Trevino 🌟

An internship is more than a line on a résumé, it’s an opportunity to step into the professional world, meet people in your industry, and put what you’re learning in the classroom into practice.

For Nathan, that’s exactly what made his internship experience valuable at Morgan Morrow.

When asked why he would recommend that business students complete an internship, he shared, "I would recommend completing an internship because it is a great way to build your professional network and gain real-world experience.”

Two things every business student can take with them long after the internship ends: experience and connections!
