Joyner Library This is the official page of East Carolina University's Libraries. ECU's Joyner Library, Music Library branch in the A.J.

Fletcher Music Center and Laupus Health Sciences Library combine to create the largest library east of Raleigh and offer state-of-the-art research services and resources. Our extensive collections include more than 1.9 million volumes, 2.1 million pieces of microfilm, 400 databases, and 61,000 print and online serial subscriptions. This past April, Dr. Mary Huffman invited our own John Dunning and Patrick Cash, along with East Carolina University maritime archaeology PhD student Madeline Roth, and Trevor Freeman from the USS NORTH CAROLINA Battleship to show future Pirate teachers from the ECU College of Education ways to bring history alive for their students.

ECU students toured the ship, participated in a scavenger hunt and learned from each of the experts about specific ways to approach teaching history.

And the partnership continues.

“We are doing this again on Sept 19 with Pitt County Schools social studies and science teachers!” Dunning said.
