Chartered as the Kappa Xi Chapter of Alpha T ATO was the first fraternity founded after the Civil War.

Founded by Otis Allan Glazebrook, Erskine Mayo Ross and Alfred Marshall, at the Virginia Military Institute on September 11, 1865 upon Christian-not Greek-principles.
