Were you default enrolled in Student Blue health insurance for Fall 2026, but meant to waive it? You’ve got one last shot to fix it.

🛑 Here's What's Up:
The waiver deadline (Sept 10) has passed. If you didn’t waive or enroll in time, you’ve been automatically enrolled in the Student Blue Insurance Plan — and the charge of $1,312.00 (UG) / $2366.50 (GR) remains on your tuition account.
BUT... you can still appeal!

🕐 Appeal Deadline: Thursday, September 24, 2026
If you want to request a waiver appeal to receive a waiver credit, you must act now.

✅ How to Submit an Appeal:
1. Go to: https://studentblue.bcbsnc.com/ecu/login
2. Log in with your ECU email
3. Click “Get One-Time Passcode” and enter the code sent to your inbox
4. On your dashboard, click “APPEAL ENROLLMENT”
5. Submit your waiver request with proof of active insurance as of Sept 1
You can also call Student Blue directly: 1-888-351-8283

📌 Heads Up:
• Your private insurance must have been active by Sept 1, 2026.
• If your appeal is approved, a waiver credit will be applied as a payment on your tuition bill.
• If you don’t appeal by Sept 24, you’ll stay enrolled — and no refunds will be given after that date.

Still haven't taken action yet for the Student Health Insurance Plan? The deadline is SEPTEMBER 10.

Emails continue to go out from Student Blue and from SHS about the Student Health Insurance Plan for Fall 2026 to students who still have not enrolled or received an approved waiver.

All eligible students are automatically billed for the Student Blue plan ($1,312.00 UNDERGRADUATE / $2,366.50 GRADUATE) with their tuition bill.

The charge on the bill does NOT mean active coverage yet. If they want the coverage, students must enroll in the plan to activate their coverage.

If they waive out, the charge does not drop from the bill, but a waiver credit is applied to the tuition bill as a payment for the same amount within 24-72 hours after the waiver is approved by Student Blue.

Emails continue to go out for anyone with:

Pending/manual waiver: there is nothing to do except wait until their waiver is approved or denied.

Denied waiver: students should have received an email from Student Blue stating the reason as to why it was denied. The student just needs to resubmit the waiver with whatever information is needed. We highly recommend including a copy of the front and back of their card.

Voided waiver/enrollment: need to do something!

Those who have taken NO action yet: need to do something!
