Clemson University Dept of Automotive Engineering The Department of Automotive Engineering is part of Clemson University's College of Engineering and

Clemson University's Department of Automotive Engineering is the nation's only graduate-level program devoted to automotive engineering. Almost 200 students are pursuing Master of Science or PhD degrees in automotive engineering at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research, or CU-ICAR, located in Greenville, SC. Thanks to the work of our world-class faculty, our students

learn in an innovative research-and-educational program that focuses on the vehicle and its infrastructure from a systems-integration perspective. While many traditional graduate programs may offer a concentration in automotive engineering, our program and campus is devoted to the discipline.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the tragic news that one of our students, Tyson Tucker, has passed away while living in Indianapolis, where he had been interning this summer. Tyson was scheduled to graduate this December.

Tyson was a remarkable student, friend, and leader. He was a lead student ambassador for the department, welcoming prospective students and their family to our campus. He supported the technical staff in the laboratories, and served as the Team Principal for Clemson Tiger Racing, growing its membership and establishing an operating structure for the organization.

Tyson led by example. He was the type of person who always gave 110% and lifted others up to do the same. This news will weigh heavily on our hearts and minds for weeks, months, and years to come. A memorial service is being planned at CU-ICAR when students are back for the Fall semester and information will be made available here when those arrangements are finalized. As with all of our undergraduate degree awardees, his brick will also be installed with those of his classmates in our CU-ICAR campus walk.

Clemson offers free counseling services and the link to contact them is in our bio. Within the Department, if you would like to speak to any of us for support at any time, please reach out day or night. We are here to support each other.

Please join the Department of Automotive Engineering in welcoming our new Graduate Student Services Coordinator, Christi Grewohl! πŸ‘‹

Christi is transitioning into this role after seven years in the classroom. She is really excited to work with students in this setting and build meaningful connections with them because she says they are the best part of working in education!

Outside of work, Christi enjoys traveling, concerts, and baseball. You are most likely to run into her at an antique mall on the weekend!

When asked if there was anything else she’d like to share, she said she would like to remind students that she is always in their corner, no matter what. They should never hesitate to seek her out for support. (We love this and couldn’t agree more! πŸ₯Ή)

Christi is thrilled to be part of the Clemson community and learn about all of the students’ innovative projects! πŸ§‘πŸ’œ

Drop a warm AuE welcome to Christi in the comments! πŸ€—πŸ…πŸ’œ

πŸŽοΈπŸ’¨πŸ’¨ , LeMans style! πŸŽοΈπŸ’¨πŸ’¨

Robert Babcock (@944.robertb) one of our AuE undergrads, sent in the awesome pics and bonus video of the pit lane exit for today and shared the following:

β€œThis is my first time attending the 24H of LeMans. I have been wanting to go ever since I was a young kid and finally being able to go with one of my great friends was an amazing trip. Being able to go and see all of the different manufacturers show off their concept cars, recent production vehicles and unique experiences were all amazing.

I got to talk to a couple of the race teams like AO racing and learn more about what it takes to work on a full time endurance team.

I will be continuing my trip by heading to Porsche, Mercedes, and Audi over the next few days as I travel through Germany before heading home.”

Robert told us this experience has been inspiring and made him want to get more involved in Motorsports, and being part of AUE is helping him build those dreams and giving him hands on opportunities in and out of the classroom. Robert- thanks for sharing- we can’t wait to see where AuE and your passion for Motorsports takes you from here! 🏁

From the classroom β€”> the track. 🏁

Four Automotive Engineering students spent a week in May competing at the FSAE event at the Michigan International Speedway, where performance, engineering and technical knowledge were put to the test. Events like FSAE, hosted by , give students the opportunity to apply what they learn in the classroom to while gaining valuable hands on experience in vehicle design and Motorsports engineering.

We are proud to see our Tigers representing the department pushing the limits of innovation on and off the track. The future of mobility starts here! πŸŽοΈπŸ…

Taking a break from to show off our other favorite Tuesday tradition (besides Taco Tuesday of course), !

Today we have a 2023 Automotive Engineering MS, grad, Arnav Roy who was recently showing off his πŸ… pride at a MotoGP race in Jerez, Spain. We love seeing where life takes our AuE students after graduation!

DM us your Tiger Rag Tuesday pics if you want to show off where the power of the paw has taken you! 🧑🐯
