📸🏴‍☠️No SHL visit is complete without a photo op! 🏴‍☠️📸

We had a great time welcoming Northampton County High School and Ms. Crooks to SHL! We made sure to squeeze in a special stop to see Peedee the Pirate and, of course, grab a few pictures while we were there. 💜💛

Thanks for spending some time with us and checking out SHL! 🍍

Did we go to last week’s Better Skills, Better Jobs Job Fair? Yes, we did. 💜💛

Did we get any pictures where our faculty/staff had their eyes open and their mouths closed? No. No, we did not. 😂

But we did have a great time talking with high school students, connecting with other ECU departments, and meeting businesses from around town and even a little farther out. 💼

The pictures may not have worked out, but the conversations definitely did. We always enjoy getting out, meeting future Pirates, and showing students where a degree in hospitality leadership can take them. 📣

Until the next one! 💜💛

⚓️An Alumna Came for a Visit ⚓️

We had such a fun time with Ms. Tiffany Dobbin and her students at SHL yesterday! From exploring our spaces to seeing some pretty cool things along the way from Rivers to the Main Campus Student Center, this group brought some great energy to the visit. ✨

This tour also gave us a few firsts that made it one for the books! 😄 We loved getting to experience it all with this group and showing them a little more of what SHL is all about.

Ms. Dobbin, it was so much fun having you and your students with us. Come "home" anytime! 💜🏴‍☠️

💜💛 Small Group, Big Questions 💜💛

Yesterday, we welcomed Onslow County Virtual High School to the School of Hospitality Leadership! This group may have been small, but they were mighty, coming with some amazing questions and really enjoying their time learning about SHL and the opportunities available to them. ✨

A special thank-you to Dr. Katherine Klimchock, Ed.D., from Recreation Sciences and Sports Management, for joining us and sharing more about their program. The students had a great time learning about Sports Management and asking questions about what a future in the field could look like! 🏆

Thank you to Mrs. Caratelli for bringing your students to spend time with us. We loved having you here and hope to see some future Pirates back on campus! 🏴‍☠️

💜💛 Northeastern High School Visits SHL! 💛💜

We had a great time welcoming Northeastern High School from Elizabeth City to ECU’s School of Hospitality Leadership! Even though the rain threatened us all day on Thursday, we managed to stay dry while exploring SHL, checking out our labs and learning more about life as a Pirate. 🌧️🏴‍☠️

Students also took a little tour through the Student Technology Center and Main Campus Student Center, where they got to see the newest food robots on campus! They also got their steps in navigating all those stairs through three different buildings. 😂🤖

By the end of the visit, students had learned more about SHL, college life and what it takes to make the most of their college experience. And we may have even met a few future Pirates who are already getting ready to apply! 🎓✨

Thanks for spending the day with us, Northeastern High School! We loved having you on campus! 🌟

💜💛 Washington County pulled up to ECU and understood the assignment. 💜💛

They came. They saw. They explored. They learned.

And most importantly, they learned the #1 rule of college:
🍕 If there’s free food, you’re getting free food.

Okay, maybe they learned a few things about the School of Hospitality Leadership, too. 😂

Thanks for hanging out with us, Washington County! We loved having you on campus and showing you a little bit of the Pirate life. 🏴‍☠️

💼 At SHL, an internship is required... But why? 💼

Because we know that sometimes it is not just what you know, but who you know. Internships give you the opportunity to gain real-world experience, build your professional network, and make connections that can open doors to future opportunities. 💜💛

That is why we are excited to share the College of Business is holding an Internship Experience Panel on September 24.

Hear from fellow Pirates about how they found their internship opportunities, navigated the application and interview process, and made the most of their experiences. 🏴‍☠️

💬 Learn from their experiences.
💡 Ask your questions.
🚀 Get inspired to take your next step.

Your internship may be a requirement, but what you get from it can go far beyond checking a box. 💜💛
