Psychology Department at East Carolina University graduate student Kelsey Deitrich is working with faculty on ECU Research that supports women college students through a trauma-sensitive yoga program! Read more below.

Third-year doctoral candidate Kelsey Dietrich facilitated a trauma-sensitive yoga practice session and presented "Implementing Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Programs on Campus: Research and Reflections" at the Contemplative Practices for Higher Education Conference in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Kelsey's presentation highlighted the collaborative work she and Dr. Christyn Dolbier have been doing to develop a trauma-sensitive yoga program designed to support women college students who are trauma survivors. The program is expected to launch in fall 2026 and reflects the Department of Psychology's commitment to advancing research-informed approaches that promote student well-being.

A $25,000 America 250! Scholarship from the Daughters of the American Revolution will cover the cost of tuition for incoming East Carolina University graduate student Owen Nance, of Eden, NC.

Nance begins his studies for the Master of Arts degree in the ECU Department of History in August. He believes that studying history reminds us to be hopeful about the future. After completing his degree, Nance would like to teach history courses at a local community college.
