ECU Represents at the NC Rural Economic Summit! Dr Reide Corbett, interim dean of the Thomas Harriot College of Arts and Sciences will be joining a panel to discuss NC Coast Resilience.

This panel will explore key issues shaping the future of North Carolina’s coast, including coastal change and flooding, natural systems, infrastructure, community planning, and resilience investments. Panelists will discuss the tradeoffs involved in adapting to changing conditions and highlight the importance of making informed, locally driven decisions. The conversation will emphasize that resilience is not a one-size-fits-all solution, but a community-by-community approach to protecting people, infrastructure, natural resources, and the long-term economic vitality of coastal North Carolina.

Limited resources and increasing global competition make data driven decision making an economic development imperative. This module will provide a foundation for data analysis to support the policy making process including commonly used sources of data, fundamentals of analysis, and visualization and presentation techniques. Session participants will learn to identify key performance indicators, how to provide context for analysis, and how to leverage insights for future economic development strategies.
