Today, Caden Buschur, our local Agricultural Extension Educator visited with our Agronomy class. Caden gave a great overview of what Ohio State University Extension does in each county and around the state. He also discussed some of the research projects that the Extension office handles throughout the year. Thank you Caden for spending your afternoon with us!

Recently our Animal Science class had the opportunity to visit a modern dairy farm. The class toured Wabash Way Farm in New Weston. Special thanks to Terry and Marcia Stammen for opening their farm up to our class.

Last week our Ag Business 2 class welcomed Melony Bryant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation and Kathy Redmond and David Dey’s with Sedgwick. Worker’s Compensation isn’t something people like to talk about because it usually means someone got hurt. But it’s required for businesses in Ohio even if you just have one employee. This was a great discussion for our students and introduced them to something they’ll likely have to work with in the future.

Today our Agronomy class welcomed Mikala Krieger from Keystone Cooperative! Mikala gave a brief overview of importance of soil fertility and why soil testing is so important. She then discussed the different divisions of Keystone and shared internship and job opportunities with our students. Keystone has a great Crop Technician internship where students earn a drone operator’s license and also get a drone to keep after the internship is over.
