We had the best time creating and exploring with nearly 60 high school students during our Art and Design Summer Camp last month! πŸ’œπŸ’›

That includes at least a couple of incoming ECU art students we will welcome in a few quick weeks. Learn more about them and our camp in the blog post below, on the college website.

This is the type of experience we offer to pre-college students who want to explore their creativity! We love to see their process and their creations!

We are happy to continue a relationship with the N.C. General Assembly and our art students! A new group of student artists β€” MFA students for this summer and fall β€” made the trip to Raleigh recently to help install their art pieces in the offices of our local and alumni elected officials.

We also welcomed one of those officials, Rep. Gloristine Brown, during the spring semester, when students demonstrated their art processes, and helped her create her own pieces! πŸ’œ

It is exciting to share this exhibition and educational opportunity with our students, and to share art, conversation and education with our elected officials. It contributes both to the artistic success of our students, and also to regional transformation, as our officials and others gain awareness of the importance and meaning of creating.

We are having the best time this week with 57 high school students β€” including several who are incoming ECU Pirates β€” in creative workshops including bookmaking, ceramics, 2D animation, photography, and more!

This is a summer opportunity for students to explore their creativity and experience different artistic media. Practice your favorite artistic pursuits, or learn something new!

We are happy to have everyone here, and look forward to celebrating everyone's creations as the week comes to a close. Is there a high school creative in your family who might like to join us next year? Learn more about camp and bookmark it for next summer's experience ➑ https://art.ecu.edu/summercamp/

Attention high school artists! We have less than 10 spots left for our SOAD summer camp! 🚨

Young artists and designers can explore their creativity, develop new skills, and unleash their potential in a supportive and inspiring environment. Through hands-on courses, expert guidance from experienced instructors, and exposure to various artistic media and design principles, participants will embark on a journey of self-expression and discovery.
