With the excessive rainfall we’ve experienced recently, we’ve received numerous questions about potential lawn damage. One common issue is Large (Brown) Patch, a lawn disease caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia solani, which attacks emerging or weakened turfgrass.
Ways to help prevent this disease include:
🌱 Selecting turfgrass varieties that are well-adapted to Mississippi
🚜 Removing excess grass clippings and thatch buildup
⚠️ Avoiding excessive nitrogen fertilization
💧 Timing irrigation properly to reduce long periods of moisture on the grass
If an infection does occur, fungicides can be effective in minimizing and controlling outbreaks. If you suspect your lawn may have Brown Patch, contact our office at 662-226-2061 to have an agent evaluate your lawn.
