This is what earning class credit can look like.

A few weeks ago, our annual ROE Water-Based Education class joined Adrift Dinosaur to get a taste of river guide life on the Yampa River, the last free-flowing tributary of the Colorado River system.

Over five days, students floated 75 miles, developing expedition, facilitation, safety, and interpretation skills through real-world experience that counts toward their Recreation & Outdoor Education degree.

Favorite photos from the past four years by recent Graphic Design graduate and student photographer Mary Donohue.

While at Western, Mary discovered her passion for photography, a passion that has since grown into her own business, Mary Donohue Photography, specializing in weddings, families, couples, and portraits.

“I'm almost completely booked out this summer, and I truly credit so much of that success to the amazing lessons, people, and encouragement that came from Western.”

In addition to running her photography business, Mary now works in Crested Butte as the Graphic Design & Marketing Coordinator for Bluebird Real Estate.

Handpicked favorites from recent Art Education graduate and former student photographer Cassie Grover from her time at Western.

Cassie has documented countless events across campus over the past four years, but she’s especially proud of her work with athletics — particularly football games.

As she begins her next chapter, Cassie plans to substitute teach in districts around Colorado Springs, travel, and continue her photography journey.

“Western has taught me so much, and I am forever grateful for all the memories I have made. These past four years have truly been a gift.”
