The Centenary College Wrestling team began as a club team founded by Professor
Robert Quade in 1990. The team stayed as a club team until 1998, when it became
recognized as an NCAA Division III Team. In the past 7 years the team has seen much
success on and off the mats. They are Defending Metropolitan Conference Champions
winning the title in 2011, and 2012, along with being 2013 East Regional

Champions, a 2013 NWCA
National Duals 3rd place winners. They have been ranked as high as 3rd in the Country
and in the top 20 five of the last six years. They got their first All-American in 2010
Will Livingston 3rd in the Country. Since then, seven more have been named Chris Burdge
2011-2012, Will Livingston 2011, Tim Lutke 2011, and JD Zitone 2012. JD Zitone is
the only wrestler to hold both Academic, and Athletic All-American Honors, which he
did in 2012. Last year was another mile stone year for the team, as they won their
East Regional Championship, and got 3 more All-Americans. JD Zitone Two time All-American,
2 Time Academic All-American, and National Finalist, Chris Burdge Centenary's only 3 time
All-American, and Academic All-American, and Owen Vernon ended up on the podium as well
placing sixth in the Country. The search is still on for the first National Champion! "WHO WILL IT BE"

Calling all Youth Wrestlers, you now have an opportunity to work directly with Coach Garriques. Tuesday Nights are loaded at Centenary for High School kids, now Monday nights at Phillipsburg Firth Youth for grade school and middle school aged kids. Plus one hour will be dedication to girls only, which the Centenary University girls will help teach the new age girls coming up. Don't miss this amazing opportunity...

The Firth Youth Center is excited to announce that Coach John Garriques will be back this Summer to lead our Firth Youth Wrestling Club! 🤼‍♂️👏

Sessions will be held on Mondays, starting June 15th, at the FYC.
5:30-6:30pm: Girls Only *New in 2026!
6:30-8:00pm: Co-Ed JV/Varsity

A little flashback... Centenary was going into the season as 2x Conference Champions. Pre-season the Cyclones were not ranked, but the Cyclones rallied in honor of professor Quade who passed away that Spring. Your Cyclones went on to become Regional Champions, 3rd in the Country, and one of the few teams in the Nation to ever knock off Augsburg.

2026 End of the Year Wrestling Party at Coach's House....

A lot of success to celebrate, All together boys and girls the team had 7 NCAA All-Region wrestlers, 5 NWCA Academic All-Americans, one NCAA Regional Champion, and two NCAA National Qualifiers. In coach Garriques' 19 years coaching, Centenary was only not represented at the NCAA’S one time, that is 18 years of Centenary being recognized at the NCAA National Championships. Lets keep the momentum going into the New Year!

What a week for the Centenary men's and women's wrestling program. Anthony Tardibuono Rutherford, NJ got honored for Academic Excellence with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Elizabeth Galladay Voorhees NJ, and Jenna Magrino Old Bridge, NJ got selected for Athlete of the year. Jack Thode Harrington, DE also got selected for the men's team Athlete of the year, and Danny Haws Lenape Valley, NJ recieved the Cardy Gemma Award which is given to one senior out of all the teams on campus.
