🫁🔬 **Exploring the Tools of Respiratory Care!**

Our Respiratory Therapy students had a great time showcasing the respiratory care profession to local 8th graders at Wallace State Community College’s **Tools of the Trade** event! 🩺

From trying out the chest vest used to help mobilize secretions to getting an up-close look at a smoker’s pig lung, students got a hands-on introduction to the amazing technology and skills respiratory therapists use to help patients breathe easier. 🫁💙

May be we inspired some future Respiratory Therapists today! 🙌

🫁💙 **Future Healthcare Heroes Exploring Respiratory Therapy!** 💙🫁

Our Respiratory Therapy students had a blast teaching and showcasing the world of respiratory care to local high school HOSA students! 🙌

From listening to breath sounds 🩺 and learning about oxygen therapy 💨 to exploring neonatal care with our tiniest patients 👶, there was plenty of hands-on learning! Students also got an up-close look at bronchoscopy using a manikin with simulated lung tumors, giving them a glimpse into how respiratory therapists help diagnose and care for patients with lung disease. 🫁🔬

We love sharing our passion for respiratory care, inspiring future healthcare professionals, and showing the next generation just how rewarding a career in Respiratory Therapy can be! 💙

Who knows? We may have met some of our future RTs today! 👏

🫁 **Three Days of Teamwork, Collaboration & Better Patient Care!** 🤝

Our Respiratory Therapy students joined forces with Diagnostic Imaging, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Nursing for three days of interdisciplinary learning! 🩻🧪💊

From strengthening communication to understanding how each healthcare discipline contributes to patient outcomes, our future respiratory therapists are learning that excellent patient care takes a TEAM! 💙

🫁💨 Building the Skills That Make a Difference!

Our 1st-semester Respiratory Therapy students are getting hands-on in Fundamentals Lab! 🙌 They’re practicing oxygen therapy and nebulizer treatments, learning not just how to deliver respiratory therapies, but when and why to use them for their patients.

From setting up equipment to delivering treatments, these future RTs are putting their skills into action! 💙

One skill at a time. One patient at a time. One step closer to becoming an RT! 👏🫁

🔬🫁 **From the Lab to the Bedside!**

Our respiratory therapy students got hands-on in Diagnostic Lab as they practiced the skills involved in **bronchoscopy assisting, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), and the use of a rescue catheter**.

Students learned how RTs play an important role during diagnostic procedures--
from assisting with bronchoscopy and collecting lower-airway specimens through BAL to recognizing and addressing **ET tube obstruction from secretions and biofilm** using a rescue catheter.

These experiences help our students build the technical skills, clinical judgment, and confidence they’ll need when caring for patients in the real-world healthcare setting! 💪🫁

👶💨 **From the classroom to the tiniest patients!**

Our respiratory therapy students got hands-on in the neonatal lab, building the skills needed to provide respiratory support for our smallest and most vulnerable patients.

Students practiced **noninvasive ventilation (NIV), bubble CPAP, and positive-pressure bagging**, gaining experience with equipment, technique, and clinical decision-making in a safe learning environment.

These hands-on experiences help our students connect the *why* behind respiratory care with the *how*—preparing them to recognize patient needs and respond with confidence when it matters most. 💙

**Big skills. Tiny patients. Future respiratory therapists in the making!** 👶🫁

🫁 Respiratory Care on the Move🚨

Our respiratory therapy students are gaining valuable hands-on experience with ICU patient transportation! 🫁

Students transported a patient from the ER to the OR using a resuscitation bag, providing manual ventilation throughout the transport. They also transported a patient from the ICU room to the OR using a ventilator, managing the equipment while monitoring the patient throughout the journey.

These hands-on experiences are about more than moving a patient from one location to another. Our students are developing the critical thinking, assessment skills, teamwork, communication, and confidence needed to provide safe respiratory care when it matters most. 💪

Every experience is another opportunity to grow from a student into a confident respiratory care professional. 👏🫁

🫁 **Preparing for Clinicals!** 🫁

Our first-semester Respiratory Therapy students got a hands-on preview of what to expect when they step into the clinical setting! 💙

During **Clinical Prep in the Simulation Center**, our senior RT students stepped into the role of preceptors and shared their knowledge, experience, and encouragement with the newest members of our RT family.

Our first-semester students practiced:
🩺 Vital signs & patient assessment
💨 Oxygen therapy
💊 Medication therapy
🤝 Patient communication
❤️ CPR review

This was a great opportunity for our senior students to **lead, teach, and mentor**, while our first-semester students gained confidence and practiced the skills they’ll soon use in the clinical setting.

We are so proud of the collaboration between our students and love seeing our RT family **learn from one another and grow together!** 🫁💙
