Dear friends:

These are challenging times for many, including our international students, and we hope we all do our best to show support and love for the people around us. On behalf of the International Student Association, we ask you to please support the efforts of various groups on campus in response to the recent Executive Orders on immigration, including this initiative on behalf of Kasia Kready & Veselin Nanov '20:

"In light of the recent Executive Orders signed by President Trump, we have decided to form an action group in support of our international students and immigrants/refugees in the Upper Valley and abroad.

We invite the Dartmouth Community, the Upper Valley Community to join us along with these other organizations to plan collective action on Saturday, February 4 at 6-9PM in Haldeman 041.

Please email Kasia Kready '17 if you have any questions or concerns. Below is the proposed agenda for the meeting.

Thanks!
Kasia Kready & Veselin Nanov '20:

Proposed Agenda for the Meeting:

1. Introductions and opening statements by Veselin Nanov, Kasia Kready, and Professor Irene Kacandes

2. Defining the problem and statement of purpose: We want to collectively define the problem in which we want to work towards solving. Then we would like to brainstorm a working statement of purpose such that everyone at the meeting knows the aims/goals of our collective action.

3. Decide organizational structure: We would like to decide how to best organize to have the most productive and sustainable actions.

4. Brainstorm and plan collective actions: We would like to emphasize existing efforts on campus and in the community, as well as plan future collective actions."

Thank you all very much!

Franziska Hertel, a Dartmouth '11 would like to share her experience navigating through the immigration process beyond college with some international students either this Sunday (9th Oct) or the upcoming Monday (10th Oct).

Franziska grew up in Austria and while at Dartmouth was Communications Director of ISA. After graduating from Dartmouth, she got a law degree from Columbia Law School and now works at a large law firm in Boston. Inspired by her own experience trying to navigate the US immigration jungle, she has been thinking about ways in which she can use her expertise to help current students make their way through the process. To that end, she'd love to meet some current Dartmouth students and hear about their experiences and what kind of support they wish they had access to, either now at Dartmouth or once they graduate.

She would be available for coffee chat this Sunday or the upcoming Monday. If you wish to meet her, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions at her email [email protected] or her cell at 617-448-4476.

International students on financial aid on this campus move beyond their own communities to have a positive impact across all of Dartmouth. Andrew is a prime example of that.

Dartmouth's former need-blind application policy has been incredibly important for getting some of our most talented and passionate international students to Dartmouth.

What will we lose now that Dartmouth is no longer need-blind for international students?

Give the Dartmouth ISA page a like to keep updated on this process!
