Studying abroad is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Being able to go abroad in college is such a privilege and has helped me grow so much as a person. Being immersed in a completely different style of life than my own has taught me to be much more open minded and curious about the world. It is vital to be pushed out of your comfort zone to become the best version of yourself. The memories, laughs, and learning moments abroad will stay with me forever. Get out there and do not be afraid to challenge yourself. I believe that every person should go abroad if they have the opportunity as they will be incredibly rewarded and blessed with such beautiful memories and a new perspective on life. My May Term abroad was one of the best experiences of my life. I think studying annd experiencing different cultures is a crucial part of our education. My time in Spain didn’t only bring me lifelong memories but changed my viewpoint and how I experience my daily life. I believe everyone should study abroad and learn more about other cultures.

Spain is always wonderful!!

This trip abroad to Spain has been such an unforgettable learning experience, and I have grown
so much both personally and academically along the way.
Not all classrooms have four walls. Some of the most meaningful lessons are learned through
travel, cultural immersion, and stepping outside of your comfort zone. Being bilingual means
more than simply speaking another language; it’s about connecting with people, understanding
different perspectives, and appreciating cultures on a deeper level. Traveling has shown me just
how interconnected our world truly is.
I’m so grateful for the memories, experiences, and friendships made during this journey, and I
can’t wait for my next adventure!

May Term in Spain: I would encourage everyone at Hanover to spend a May Term abroad. In a time when the emphasis on multiculturalism is dwindling in the US, it is extremely important to see the world and experience other cultures. May Term not only improved my spanish, but also widened my worldview to a lifestyle different than my own. I believe in an experience like this one, you learn not only about another culture and way of life, but also more about yourself. ¡Viva España! Addison Livorno '28.
