Happy from Laila Ayala ‘28!

Hometown: NYC🍎

Major: Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Middle Eastern Studies with a minor in Portuguese

Favorite KD Memory: My favorite KD memory has to be my big/little reveal night! Getting to meet my lineage and seeing everyone dressed up and having fun made it such a memorable night. I’ve also really loved getting to work on recrutiment this term and cannot wait to continue making more memories 🤭💗

Why KD: When I first entered KD, I remember feeling so welcomed. All of the sisters were so kind and genuine and it has been such a pleasure to share a space with them :) Whether it’s sitting around the house longer than I planned, random adventures, or just grabbing a meal, some of my favorite parts of KD have come from the little things 🫶💚

Fav KD Memory: I love cooking in the house, and every time I make dinner, I get pulled into conversation with girls walking by or getting work done at our dining room table. Living in the house creates such an open community where I am constantly hanging out with friends new and old.

Why KD: KD has been such a genuine, connected, and welcoming space for me, and I am so grateful for my legend Lucy Vitali ’26 for encouraging me to join!! My engagement in KD has made my time at Dartmouth richer, and I literally love all the communities I have been able to find within this house- my big, little, and twin, my large, financial aid baddies, the girls I have spent off terms in D.C. with, and so many more. I love our cabin nights, sisterhood crafts, and the terrible reality show we watch together each term. Friendship and connection is so easy to find here, and rushing KD is one of the best decisions I have made at Dartmouth!

Favorite KD Memory: Honestly it’s not just one moment but many side quests, late night formal room chats, and somewhat productive study sessions that I cherish. I love how spontaneous and fun loving each sister is (especially this summer) and I can’t wait to keep making more memories with everyone!

Why KD: I went in the rush process not knowing what to expect from Greek life at Dartmouth but I could not be more grateful for the sisterhood that I found in KD. I feel so at home with everyone in the house and I feel like I can lean on my sisters when life gets hard. It is such a welcoming and genuine group of women and I have found friendships that will last long after my time here! Serving as president this summer has been one of the best experiences I’ve had at Dartmouth. I care so deeply for this sisterhood and being able to give back has meant the world to me.

Favorite KD Memory: Being KD’s Vice President of Events and Programming for the past two terms has been so amazing! I have gotten so close with so many sweet girls in the house by planning fun and engaging sisterhood events and formals! I love to hang out and chat with my girlies!!

Why KD: KD is one of the most authentic and fun spaces on campus. This house is filled with so much positive energy and lots of good vibes. During rush, I was so scared to have conversations with sisters, but KD was the one house where I always felt heard and cared about. KD is home, and I will always cherish the friendships I’ve made through this house!

Favorite KD Memory: Living in the house this term has been one of my favorite parts of sophomore summer! Whether it be movie marathons in the formal room, baking in the kitchen, or late-night study sessions, getting the chance to live and spend time with girls in the house has been so much fun.

Why KD: KD is one of my favorite spaces on campus because of how welcoming and open the community is. This house is full of diverse, down-to-earth, fun, and talented girls who make it so easy to find friendships and feel at home. I’m so happy to have met so many amazing people through KD and to be a part of this community!
