IWCC Shelby County Center- Harlan Center History: Iowa Western Community College’s Shelby County Center opened in 1966 and its first Practical Nursing class graduated in July 1967.

Through the years, classes have been held at various locations in Harlan. The center has been located at 2712 12th Street since the late 1970’s. IWCC moved June 2009 to our new location at 1901 Hawkeye Ave, Suite #102.
