The competition was fierce, the costumes were frightfully good and even the condiments came dressed for the occasion!

Friday’s Trunk or Treat brought plenty of Halloween spirit to Widener Law Commonwealth, thanks to Phi Alpha Delta and the student organizations that went all out decorating their cars. Staff members Matt and Jess took first place with 40 tickets for their SpongeBob SquarePants setup, complete with a cardboard Krusty Krab ship and the pair dressed as Squidward and SpongeBob! They kindly donated their prize to runners-up Logan Slusser and Steven Tripodianos, whose Minion and Gru crew earned 35 votes with their sports-themed setups.

Our hot dog crew rounded out the top three with 17 tickets! Paula, Jane, Rob and Brian staffed the grill and hot dog station dressed as mustard, a pickle, a hot dog and ketchup, respectively. Talk about dressing for the job!

Thank you to Akifa Khattak ’19 for returning to Widener Law Commonwealth to share her experience as a health care attorney and entrepreneur with our students.

Akifa discussed how law, business, and technology come together in digital health, from protecting patient data to bringing new ideas into hospitals. She also shared how her own health journey inspired her work in women’s health and encouraged students to think broadly about where their law degrees could take them.

Thank you to the alumni, friends and sponsors who joined us for Widener Law Commonwealth’s inaugural Alumni Appreciation Luncheon! We loved seeing classmates reconnect, welcoming recent graduates and celebrating the many ways our alumni make a difference.

Congratulations to our inaugural award recipients, Ann Marie Yastishock ’94, Distinguished Alumna Award honoree, and Daniel Schramm ’17, Emerging Young Alumnus Award honoree!

Your support also helps our Raising the Bar fund give graduates time away from work to focus on studying for the bar exam. That generosity will stay with them long after the celebration. As Dean andré douglas pond cummings put it, “Thank you for all that we’re accomplishing together.”

“We did this together.”

Dean andré douglas pond cummings captured the spirit of the day as our WLC community gathered for cake and lemonade to celebrate our newest bar passers. Behind that accomplishment are people who offered encouragement, answered questions, and helped our graduates believe they could do it.

Students also gathered in the Pit for Pretzels with the President, spending time with President Stacey Robertson and Provost Mark Nicosia. A chance to catch up, celebrate one another, and feel part of this community.
