Our Summer Peacebuilding Institute turns 30 this year! Who better to hear from than long-time peacebuilding professor and CJP academic director Gloria Rhodes, who also happened to be the very first SPI coordinator? For 34 years, Dr. Gloria Rhodes ’88, professor of peacebuilding and conflict studies and academic director of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at EMU, has taught students in conflict transformation, restorative justice, and transformational leadership.

With the Summer Peacebuilding Institute turning 30 this year, we sat down with Gloria to talk about her beginnings in peacebuilding, the values-based education offered at CJP, and how students are bringing more peace and justice to the world.

Congraulations, Fabrice! We can't wait to welcome you back to campus in October.

Congratulations to Fabrice Guerrier MA ’15 (conflict transformation) on being named EMU’s 2025 Alum of the Year! The visionary artist and futurist is the founder and CEO of Syllble Studios, the first collaborative worldbuilding production house for science fiction and fantasy storytelling.
