James Madison University is in the process of creating a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan in order to enable the benefits of an interconnected system within the JMU campus with concoctions to the City of Harrisonburg and regional networks. JMU has appointed an advisory committee and has collected data including bicycle rack locations and utilization and bicycle traffic analysis throughout the ca
mpus. JMU has also hired a planning and design consultant (VHB) to help develop this master plan. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee was established in December 2012. BPAC is comprised on JMU faculty, staff, and students. Representatives from bicycle coalitions, bike shops, proponents, and advisors from the City of Harrisonburg and CSPDC staff. The Master Plan will include a comprehensive system of bicycle and pedestrian routes, bicycle racks, signage, and other facilities to accommodate, encourage, and enhance the safe and convent use of bicycling and walking on the JMU campus
