🌡️ Preparing for the Unexpected! 🩺

Our 1st year students have been getting hands-on practice with the emergency management of environmental conditions!
From recognizing and managing heat illnesses to practicing re**al temperature assessment, cold-water immersion techniques, and using urinalysis to assess hydration status, students are building the skills needed to provide effective, evidence-based care when it matters most. 💪

Learning by doing is what we do best! 💜💛

1st Years practiced emergency wound management skills, including wound packing and tourniquet application, while working through realistic scenarios. 🩸🩹

These hands-on experiences help students build the skills, confidence, and clinical decision-making needed to respond when it matters most! 💪

🗣️ Today, our 1st-year students completed Behavioral Health Teaching Standardized Patient (SP) encounters!

Working in teams, students navigated five patient cases, performing behavioral health examinations and making appropriate referrals. One student led each encounter, with the opportunity to call a “time out” and consult with their team when needed.

These collaborative simulations help students build clinical skills and confidence while practicing active listening, effective communication, and patient-centered care.

Another great day of learning by doing! 💜💛

After crushing exams, OSCEs, and standardized patient encounters, our students got to put motor learning concepts into action with some fun, hands-on activities! 🧠🏃‍♂️
