40 Under Forty Honoree Spotlight ✨ Congratulations to Courtney Riggs ('24, '25)!

Dr. Courtney Riggs is a compassionate and results-driven Physician Assistant with advanced clinical training in psychiatry. She is highly skilled in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, developing evidence-based treatment plans, delivering cognitive behavioral therapy, and managing complex medication regimens. Courtney is a Certified Physician Assistant, holds an Alabama State Medical License, a Doctor of Medical Science degree, and has earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry. Committed to both professional excellence and community service, she volunteers through the Junior League of Mobile and participates in medical mission trips. In addition, she actively mentors and precepts PA students and new clinicians, fostering strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic confidence, and ethical practice within her organization.

40 Under Forty Honoree Spotlight ✨ Congratulations to Scott Pollack ('19)!

Dr. Scott Pollack is a board-certified ophthalmologist and recognized innovator in the field of interventional glaucoma, dedicated to delivering highly personalized, patient-centered ocular care. He completed his Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Program at the University of Vermont. Dr. Pollack holds board certification from the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology, having completed both written and oral examinations. He is actively engaged in advancing his field through regular presentations and publications, and he collaborates with Glaukos, along with Sight Sciences, as a peer-to-peer mentor, providing critical feedback on surgical devices to enhance physician utilization and patient outcomes. In addition to his clinical and scholarly work, he serves as Secretary of the Buffalo Ophthalmology Society and participates in the MATCHMaker Mentorship Program, demonstrating a strong commitment to leadership, innovation, and mentorship within the profession.

Jordan T. Newport is a versatile attorney whose practice encompasses business law and litigation, including banking and commercial transactions, business formation, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, and a range of civil litigation matters. He is actively engaged in the Knoxville legal community, serving as Co-Chair of the Knoxville Bar Association Barristers Athletics Committee and routinely mentoring young attorneys in his firm and beyond as they begin their careers. Newport maintains strong ties to Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law, where he regularly participates in panels, supports alumni initiatives, and has counseled the University on various sports law-related matters. Expanding his impact at LMU beyond traditional legal practice, he is the owner of Splitter Strong, Inc., a Name, Image, and Likeness collective dedicated to supporting LMU student-athletes.

40 Under Forty Honoree Spotlight ✨ Congratulations to Jay Miles ('24)!

Dr. Jay Miles is a licensed veterinarian in Virginia and Tennessee and a United States Department of Agriculture–accredited veterinarian in Virginia, bringing a strong blend of clinical expertise and academic leadership to his work. He serves as Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs, Program Director of the Veterinary Medical Technology Program, and Assistant Professor of Veterinary Science at the Lincoln Memorial University Richard A. Gillespie College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Miles is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, the Phi Zeta Veterinary Medicine Honor Society, and the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. He regularly attends and presents at professional conferences, most recently delivering a lecture in 2025, and was recently published in the Journal of the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators. In addition to his academic and professional work, Dr. Miles is active in his community, contributing his time to RAM Spay/Neuter Clinics and serving as President of the Lee County Livestock Association.

40 Under Forty Honoree Spotlight ✨ Congratulations to Jenae Matikke ('20, '26)!

Dr. Jenae Matikke serves as an Assistant Professor of Business and Leadership, where she lectures and develops curriculum for both on-ground and online courses. In addition to her academic role, she is the owner of Love Language Services, where she leverages her Spanish proficiency to instruct and tutor learners, conduct interviews, and translate documents. Ms. Matikke has over 17 years of organizational leadership experience. A sought-after public speaker, she has been featured as a spoken-word artist both nationally and internationally. Deeply committed to community service and dedicated to cultural engagement and outreach, she has served on several boards and in communities across the globe.

40 Under Forty Honoree Spotlight ✨ Congratulations to Savannah Maples ('15)!

Savannah Maples is a dedicated nursing professional and educator who earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and master's in leadership and management from Western Governors University. She began her career in the emergency room before transitioning to UT Hospice, where she served as a case manager and later as the clinical director of palliative care. She also held leadership roles as Director of Nursing at Landmark Recovery Addiction Center and as a nurse manager at McNabb Center’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) before ultimately entering the field of education. She now plays a vital role in preparing the next generation of nurses by delivering high-quality, relevant education that meets today’s healthcare demands. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she serves as an advisor to select students each quarter, actively participates on institutional committees, and contributes to quarterly pinning ceremonies celebrating student achievement. Her clinical and professional skill set includes certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), with experience in multiple electronic medical record systems, including MedHost, HCHB, Aprima, and Sunwave.
